In a bid to inject fresh momentum into diplomatic ties, the Chinese mainland is calling on the United States to translate recent high-level consensus into concrete cooperation. The appeal came from Guo Jiakun, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Chinese mainland, as he outlined Beijing's vision for the future of bilateral relations.
Guo highlighted the importance of existing frameworks, urging both sides to leverage the Chinese mainland–U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism to foster dialogue and reduce misunderstandings. Responding to Reuters on the ongoing economic and trade talks, he said: "On the basis of equality, respect and mutual benefit, we hope the Chinese mainland and the United States will enhance consensus, reduce misunderstandings, strengthen cooperation through dialogue and communication, and promote stable, healthy and sustainable development of bilateral relations."
