During a strategic two-day goodwill trip to Bishkek, Zhao Leji, chairman of the National Peoples Congress Standing Committee, and Kyrgyz leaders mapped out fresh avenues for cooperation that signal a new chapter in China-Kyrgyzstan relations.
Expanding Infrastructure and Trade
Zhao highlighted the leapfrog development of bilateral ties and zeroed in on key projects:
- High-quality construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway
- Cross-border road upgrades and modern port facilities
- Digital trade platforms and green energy initiatives
Both sides agreed that these infrastructure links will not only streamline cargo flows but also weave deeper people-to-people connections across Central Asia.
Strategic Partnership for a New Era
Conveying President Xi Jinpings warm greetings, Zhao and President Sadyr Japarov reaffirmed mutual support on core interests and global initiatives, including the Belt and Road. Japarov described the railway as a road of friendship, underlining Kyrgyzstans active role in investment, culture and multilateral affairs.
Security and People-Centered Projects
Beyond economics, the two sides pledged to:
- Deepen law enforcement cooperation to tackle terrorism, extremism and separatism

In talks with Parliament Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, Zhao emphasized leveraging legislative mechanisms to safeguard the common interests of developing members and elevate the China-Kyrgyzstan comprehensive strategic partnership.
