At a Friday briefing in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun reiterated that only a two-state solution offers a viable path to lasting peace in Palestine. His remarks came in response to reports that French President Emmanuel Macron plans to formally recognize a Palestinian state at a UN meeting in September.
“China supports the upcoming UN high-level conference on implementing the two-state solution,” Guo said, underscoring Beijing’s commitment to multilateral diplomacy. He added that China will collaborate with fellow UN member states to end the Gaza conflict, ease the humanitarian crisis, and work toward a full, just, and lasting settlement of the Palestinian question.
The spokesperson also called on all relevant parties to agree on an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, de-escalate tensions, and effectively alleviate the humanitarian crisis affecting civilians.
This statement highlights China’s active role in global peace efforts, aligning diplomatic support with calls for urgent humanitarian relief in one of the world’s most protracted conflicts.
