Chinese FM Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, hosted Croatian FM Gordan Grlic Radman in Beijing on Monday, celebrating 20 years of the comprehensive cooperative partnership between China and Croatia.
Wang praised the "high-quality Belt and Road cooperation" that has yielded tangible results and called for deeper exchanges at all levels to bolster mutual understanding and trust. He urged alignment between the Belt and Road Initiative and Croatia's development strategies, spanning trade, investment, and connectivity.
Highlighting that China-CEEC collaboration is a cornerstone of China-EU relations, Wang emphasized the need for openness, transparency, and multilateralism to tackle shared challenges. This year also marks 50 years since diplomatic ties were established between the Chinese mainland and the EU, a milestone Wang said underscores the importance of a stable and healthy relationship.
Radman reflected on over three decades of bilateral relations grounded in mutual respect and benefit. He reaffirmed Croatia's adherence to the one-China policy, recognizing the government of the People's Republic of China as the sole legal government of China and stating that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory.
Looking ahead, Radman said Croatia will continue strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, and connectivity, while welcoming more visitors from China. He described China-CEEC cooperation as a "win-win platform" for expanding economic and investment ties.
With an eye on green infrastructure, digital innovation, and cultural exchange, both sides are ready to write the next chapter of their partnership in a rapidly evolving world.
