In Ganzhou, in the Chinese mainlands Jiangxi Province, nearly 100 media representatives from over 50 countries and regions gathered on Saturday for the 2025 Belt and Road Journalists Forum. Under the theme “Promoting Civilizations Dialogue and Global Modernization with the Power of Journalists,” the event served as a dynamic platform for bridging cultures and exploring journalisms evolving role in a fast-changing world.
He Ping, chairman of the All-China Journalists Association, kicked off the forum with a call to action: media outlets worldwide must build bridges of mutual understanding, amplify the voice of peace, and safeguard the continuity of diverse civilizations. His keynote emphasized that journalism can be a powerful driver of prosperity when it champions dialogue over division.
Andrei Kryvasheyeu, rotating president of the Belt and Road Journalists Network, urged colleagues to deepen collaboration and rely on objective reporting to reduce misunderstandings and biases. “By working together, we can ensure that stories connect rather than divide us,” he remarked.
Participants split into parallel sessions, engaging in lively discussions on how artificial intelligence is reshaping newsrooms and enhancing storytelling. They also held dialogues with mayors from the Chinese mainlands cities, drawing insights on local development, sustainability, and the medias role in driving modernization.
As global challenges grow more complex, the forum highlighted journalists power to foster shared values, spark innovation, and drive a new era of interconnected, modernized societies. For these young global citizens and changemakers, the event underscored a simple truth: when journalists unite, conversations transform—and so can the world.
