China Calls on Philippines to Safeguard Chinese Student Safety

In a recent statement, China's Foreign Ministry has turned the spotlight on the safety of Chinese students pursuing studies in the Philippines. Against a backdrop of rising crime rates and concerns over public security, Beijing has urged Manila to take swift, concrete steps to protect Chinese students' well-being and uphold their rights.

On Friday, China's Ministry of Education issued an overseas study alert, asking students and their families to carefully assess security risks and boost their awareness of precautionary measures. The alert cited 'the recent deteriorating public security situation and increasing criminal activities against Chinese citizens' as key reasons for the warning.

Spokesperson Lin Jian defended the move as a 'reasonable and responsible measure' to safeguard students abroad. He reiterated Beijing's expectation that the Philippines will 'take concrete measures to protect the safety, dignity and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese students studying in the Philippines.'

For Chinese students and host institutions alike, this call to action underscores a universal truth: safety is a cornerstone of any successful study-abroad journey.
