5,800km Handcycle Odyssey From Yunnan to Beijing

In 2017, three friends with spinal injuries embarked on a 5,800 kilometer handcycle journey across the Chinese mainland, traveling from Yunnan Province to Beijing over 106 days. Their odyssey challenged expectations and showcased the power of adaptive sports.

American Lao Tan, along with Pan Yifei and Wang Feng, turned personal obstacles into an epic adventure. Covering an average of 55 kilometers a day, they navigated mountains, plateaus and city streets – proving that determination and team spirit can transform lives.

What began as a cycling trip became a catalyst for even bolder feats: Pan Yifei went on a landmark expedition in the Xizang Autonomous Region, while Wang Feng took to the skies with paramotoring. Lao Tan has since inspired countless people with disabilities through public outreach and storytelling.

Their journey is more than a travel tale – it's a global call to reimagine inclusion, innovation and resilience. From entrepreneurs to thought leaders, travelers to tech enthusiasts, their story invites all of us to push past our limits and embrace life's full potential.
