At the gateway to the Eurasian rail corridor, the northern port of Erenhot in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has set a new record. China Railway Hohhot Group announced that Erenhot handled 2,000 entry-and-exit China-Europe freight trains this year – an indicator of growing demand and cross-border collaboration.
The milestone is driven by an integrated transport model linking Erenhot Port with Mongolia's Zamyn-Uud station. Daily coordination calls and monthly planning meetings help teams on both sides synchronize train schedules, cargo volumes, and inspection procedures.
Looking ahead, the group is rolling out a digital port system to enable paperless customs clearance and real-time data sharing among customs, border inspection, and logistics units. Yun Zhijun from Erenhot Station reports, "We've cut border inspection time to under 30 minutes and reduced overall clearance time by over 5 percent."
As a pivotal entry-exit hub on the central China-Europe railway route, Erenhot now offers 73 rail connections. These link over 60 cities across 24 provincial-level regions in the Chinese mainland to more than 70 cities or stations in over 10 countries, including Germany and Poland.
By blending streamlined operations with digital tools, Erenhot port is transforming rail logistics for businesses, travelers, and trade partners from Asia to Europe. For young global citizens and entrepreneurs, this rise in efficient freight corridors is more than numbers – it's about faster flows, greener options, and new opportunities across continents.
