Dream Chasers on Wheels: Road to Rebirth

For five years after a paralysis diagnosis, Wang Feng’s world had shrunk to the four walls of his home. Somewhere else in the Chinese mainland, Pan Yifei saw her horizons limited to the turning radius of a wheelchair. Everything changed the day they gripped the handlebars of their handcycles and set off on a long-distance journey.

They battled sunburned skin under the high-altitude sun in Shangri-La, fixed tire blowouts on narrow plank roads carved into mountainsides, and sang to lift their spirits through rain-soaked nights. Each challenge tested their strength, but also fueled their determination to push further.

Driven by sheer will, Pan Yifei powered her handcycle over 10,000 kilometers to the Xizang Autonomous Region, carving a path through valleys, towns, and plateaus. Her journey became a symbol of what’s possible when innovation meets grit.

Meanwhile, Wang Feng discovered a new kind of freedom: strapping on a paramotor and ascending into the skies. From the seat of his handcycle to soaring through the air, he redefined mobility on his own terms.

Their odyssey shows that barriers can become starting lines and that with creativity and courage, life’s horizon only expands. As they proved on the winding roads of the Chinese mainland, sometimes a simple act—gripping a handlebar—can give you wings. Where will your next adventure take you?
