In a recent meeting in Tianjin, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Tajikistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin mapped out a roadmap to deepen China–Tajikistan ties. Wang Yi highlighted the need to implement the inter-governmental economic and trade cooperation plan, boost connectivity corridors linking the Chinese mainland with Tajikistan, and strengthen practical cooperation in investment, energy, counter-terrorism, and security.
As a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Wang Yi emphasized that both countries’ leaders have already set clear direction for a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the new era. He called for joint preparation ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, aiming to translate high-level dialogues into real-world impact.
Wang Yi affirmed that China firmly supports Tajikistan’s chosen development path and backs President Emomali Rahmon’s long-term national strategies. He also reiterated opposition to any external interference in Tajikistan’s internal affairs.
Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Muhriddin expressed full support for a successful SCO Tianjin summit. He said Tajikistan is ready to leverage existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms, expand inter-party and inter-parliamentary exchanges, and deepen collaboration in economy, trade, connectivity, medicine, informatization, and education. Both sides aim to elevate their strategic partnership to new heights.
With the SCO summit on the horizon, this enhanced cooperation could open fresh pathways for trade flows, infrastructure upgrades, and security alliances across Central Asia, offering opportunities for businesses, tech innovators, and travelers seeking to navigate an increasingly interconnected world.
