In Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi joined fellow ministers from ASEAN Plus Three – a group comprised of ASEAN, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea – to chart the region’s next steps in crisis response and economic integration.
“Since the establishment of the ASEAN Plus Three cooperation in 1997, we have continuously strengthened our crisis response capabilities, promoted economic integration, and created new development momentum,” Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said.
Building on achievements from trade ties to public health initiatives, the meeting spotlighted ways to bolster resilience against future shocks. Ministers discussed cross-border infrastructure, digital connectivity and supply chain stability to keep the region agile in times of uncertainty.
Looking ahead, Wang urged all parties to step up collaboration, improve development resilience, and accelerate regional integration. His call for joint action underscores a shared vision among young entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and digital nomads who view Southeast Asia and its partners as a dynamic hub for innovation, sustainability and cultural exchange.
As the global youth become more connected, these high-level talks set the tone for a future where cooperation fuels real-world impact across borders and sectors.
