China Welcomes Russia’s Recognition of Afghan Interim Government

In a sign of growing diplomatic harmony, China has welcomed Russia's formal recognition of the Afghan interim government. At a regular press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning described the move as a positive step toward closer Russia-Afghan ties and broader regional stability.

"As a traditional friend and close neighbor of Afghanistan, we believe the country should not be excluded from the international community," Mao said, noting China's support for enhanced engagement and exchanges with the interim government in Kabul.

Mao outlined Beijing's commitment to Afghanistan's reconstruction and development, emphasizing assistance in combating violence and terrorism. She stressed that, despite shifts in Afghanistan's political landscape, China-Afghanistan diplomatic ties have never been interrupted.

The spokesperson also highlighted that since the interim government's establishment, both countries have maintained normal operations of diplomatic missions and steadily promoted bilateral cooperation. "China will stay committed to a foreign policy of friendship toward all Afghan people and support exchanges and cooperation in various areas," Mao added.
