National Energy-Saving Week Kicks Off in Qingdao

The Chinese mainland launched its National Energy Efficiency Promotion Week in Qingdao City, in the eastern province of Shandong on the Chinese mainland. Running from June 23 to 29, this year’s theme spotlights energy saving and efficiency improvement as the National Low-carbon Day on June 25 approaches.

Hosted by national and local authorities, the week-long event features on-site activities that highlight recent achievements in energy conservation, invite the public to explore green consumption trends, and showcase how digital tools are empowering smarter energy use. A series of exhibitions will put the focus on carbon reduction innovations across industries.

This year marks key milestones in the country’s green journey: the fifth anniversary of its carbon peak and carbon neutrality commitment, and the 20th anniversary of the energy efficiency labeling system. Promotional events will dive into strategies for boosting industrial efficiency, reducing emissions in the building sector, and advancing green, low-carbon transformation in transportation.

Held for 34 years, National Energy Efficiency Promotion Week has played a vital role in enhancing energy efficiency, promoting sustainable economic development, and supporting a comprehensive green transformation of society. As communities from boardrooms to local neighborhoods join in, the week offers young global citizens, business and tech enthusiasts, and changemakers a chance to explore concrete steps toward a more sustainable future.
