During a high-stakes meeting in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, sat down with Shri Ajit Doval, India's national security adviser and special representative for the India-China boundary question.
Wang Yi highlighted the positive strides both nations have made recently and stressed the need for continued dialogue to build mutual trust and resolve practical issues on the ground. "Only when the dragon and elephant dance together can there be a win-win outcome," he said, calling on both sides to maintain peace and tranquility in the border regions.
In response, Doval urged officials to adopt a long-term, strategic perspective on bilateral relations. He emphasized expanding common interests and fostering inclusiveness, noting that India is ready to strengthen collaboration with China across multilateral platforms. "India fully supports China's role as the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in hosting a successful summit," Doval added, underscoring that two major Asian nations can make even greater contributions to the international community by working together.
This dialogue marks another step toward easing tensions along the Himalayas and showcases an effort by both capitals to steer bilateral ties toward stability and shared growth.
