Beijing — Chinese vice premier Ding Xuexiang met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, reaffirming their countries’ commitment to deepen strategic coordination and bonds of shared interests amid global uncertainties.
Ding conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Chinese President Xi Jinping, recalling Xi’s invitation to visit Russia and attend ceremonies marking the 80th anniversary of victory in the Soviet Union’s Great Patriotic War. He highlighted that Xi and Putin’s in-depth strategic dialogue laid new top-level designs for the next stage of China-Russia relations.
“The leadership and strategic guidance of President Xi and President Putin provide the strongest assurance for deepening our cooperation and sustaining our friendship for generations,” Ding said. “China stands ready to work with Russia to further expand trade and investment, deepen energy cooperation, advance key projects, and support each other’s development.”
In view of profound shifts in the global landscape, Ding urged both sides to uphold comprehensive strategic coordination, defend international justice, and support a WTO-centered multilateral trading system. He also called for joint efforts to safeguard supply chain stability and deepen multilateral cooperation through mechanisms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS.
Responding to Ding, Putin asked to convey his sincere greetings to Xi and welcomed Ding’s attendance at the upcoming 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. He noted that despite external challenges, Russia-China relations have reached an unprecedented level of all-round development.
“Russia is ready to further strengthen practical cooperation with China and work together to create a better future for both our peoples and the world,” Putin said, looking ahead to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin and commemorative events marking the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
The meeting underscores a broader push by both capitals to solidify their strategic partnership, even as global power dynamics evolve. For global citizens, business leaders and changemakers alike, the deepening China-Russia axis signals potential shifts in trade flows, energy markets and multilateral diplomacy in the years ahead.
