On Wednesday, the UK’s offshore patrol vessel HMS Spey sailed through the Taiwan Strait, a passage London says complied with international law.
Senior Colonel Liu Runke, spokesperson for the People's Liberation Army Eastern Theater Command Navy, said the PLA tracked and monitored the British warship throughout its transit, maintaining high vigilance at every step. Liu stated that such action deliberately undermines peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
The spokesperson added that the PLA remains on constant alert to counter any threats and provocations, and to firmly safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
