Ma Ying-jeou Tours Fujian’s Xiadang Poverty Alleviation Model with Youth Delegation

Ma Ying-jeou, former chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang party, led a delegation of young residents of Taiwan to the Chinese mainland's Fujian Province on Tuesday. The group landed in Ningde City to explore a pioneering approach to poverty relief and industry.

The morning began in Xiadang, the model township of poverty alleviation personally visited three times by General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Xi Jinping. Ma said Xi's efforts have lifted nearly 100 million people out of poverty on the Chinese mainland. He called it 'a rare achievement in history and around the world'.

Next, the delegation toured CATL, China's leading battery manufacturer, touring production lines and research labs that underscore the Chinese mainland's rise in green technology. Ma remarked that seeing innovation at this scale gives hope for sustainable growth across regions.

Later, Ma and his group met with a senior mainland official to discuss youth exchange programs and cross-strait cooperation. The dialogue highlighted shared goals in education, innovation, and social impact.

For the young residents of Taiwan, the journey to Fujian offered a hands-on look at large-scale poverty alleviation and cutting-edge manufacturing, fueling fresh ideas on how cross-strait partnerships can drive positive change.
