In a rare display of diplomatic unity, China and Oman have jointly condemned the recent Israeli strike on Iran, labeling it a violation of the United Nations Charter and international law. The strong rebuke came during a Wednesday phone call between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, and Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi.
Albusaidi described the attacks as a blatant breach of Iran's sovereignty and warned of the catastrophic risks posed by strikes on nuclear facilities. Oman has previously contributed to indirect negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issue, efforts now threatened by rising tensions.
Wang Yi reiterated Beijing's long-standing call for peaceful dispute resolution and firm opposition to the use or threat of force. He urged all parties to halt the fighting quickly to prevent further loss of life and regional destabilization.
The Chinese foreign minister also voiced full support for a joint statement by 21 Arab and Islamic members, emphasizing respect for national sovereignty and peaceful conflict resolution. At this critical juncture, he said, the international community must strengthen unity, uphold justice, and build momentum toward a political solution.
China will continue close coordination with Oman and other regional partners, leveraging multilateral platforms such as the UN to help de-escalate tensions and restore stability in the Middle East.
