In Jinan, east China’s Shandong Province, the Chinese women’s basketball team showed their offensive firepower on Sunday, routing Bosnia and Herzegovina 124-57 in the Asia Cup warm-up.
After a strong 101-55 win on Friday, China turned up the heat, opening with a 30-8 first quarter and leading 67-21 at halftime. The team nailed 17 three-pointers from 32 attempts, a 53.1% success rate that underlined their sharpshooting depth.
Coach Gong Luming used the wide margin to experiment with lineups and tactics. Guard Yang Shuyu led the way with 22 points, five assists and six steals, while 18-year-old Zhang Ziyu contributed 16 points and seven rebounds.
Next on the schedule is a showdown with Japan in Xi’an, northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, on Wednesday. With such commanding performances, China is sending a clear message: they will be a force to watch in the upcoming Asia Cup.
