Xi to Attend 2nd China-Central Asia Summit in Astana

Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the second China-Central Asia Summit in Astana from June 16 to 18 at the invitation of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Over three days, delegates from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will gather to map the next phase of regional cooperation.

This summit marks a milestone in China-Central Asia ties, building on years of Belt and Road projects across rail, road and energy networks. Trade between the Chinese mainland and Kazakhstan topped 50 billion dollars last year, with digital corridors and cross-border e-commerce on the rise.

Youth and entrepreneurs have a special focus at this year’s forum. A Digital Silk Road expo will showcase start-ups in AI, fintech and logistics, opening doors for young innovators across 10 time zones.

Green energy is also front and center. Leaders will discuss new solar and wind projects in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as pipelines linking Central Asia’s gas fields to Chinese markets—all part of a wider push for sustainability.

With a packed agenda from tech to climate, the Astana summit is a window into how Asia’s heartland is reshaping global trade and innovation. Stay tuned for insights as the region’s players chart a course for the future.
