Chinese Mainland Welcomes Indonesia to 240-Hour Visa-Free Transit Program

The Chinese mainland has added Indonesia to its 240-hour visa-free transit program, bringing the total number of eligible countries to 55. Effective Thursday, travelers from Indonesia can enter through any of 60 ports across 24 provincial-level regions and stay up to 240 hours (10 days) without a visa before continuing to a third destination.

What’s New?

  • 55 participating countries and regions now enjoy 10-day visa-free stays.
  • 60 entry ports span major hubs from Beijing and Shanghai to Chengdu and Guangzhou.
  • Eligible Indonesian travelers need only hold onward tickets to a third destination.

Why It Matters

This expansion boosts tourism, business travel and cultural exchange between the Chinese mainland and Indonesia. Entrepreneurs and digital nomads gain flexible layover options, while young global citizens can explore vibrant cityscapes and emerging tech scenes without lengthy visa applications.

Traveler Tips

Plan your itinerary to include an approved entry port and secure onward transportation. Pack a valid passport, fill out the transit form in advance, and double-check regional entry requirements. This program is ideal for immersive city breaks, cross-border business visits or a quick taste of local culture.

Whether you’re a startup founder scouting new markets or an adventure-seeking digital nomad, the visa-free window opens doors to fresh perspectives and real-world connections across Asia.
