The Shenzhen Kunlun Red Star rolled to a 2-0 victory over Qiqihar Landi in Harbin, in Heilongjiang Province on the Chinese mainland, to claim the Chinese Women's Ice Hockey League title on Wednesday.
Four minutes into the second period, Hunter Barnett delivered a long-range feed to Zhao Qi'nan, who ripped a powerful shot past the goalie for the opener. Shenzhen kept control of the pace, and with 13 minutes left in the third, Wen Lu banged in a rebound to seal the championship win.
Finishing the regular season with an impressive 23-1 record – a 96% win rate – Shenzhen cemented their status as the league's top team since its 2023 launch. As back-to-back champions, they've set a new standard for women's ice hockey on the Chinese mainland.
