Zhai Jun, China’s special envoy for the Middle East issue, arrived in Cairo on Tuesday for a two-day visit to boost bilateral partnership.
He met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and senior officials to review progress and chart the next phase of cooperation. Zhai praised the growing China-Egypt relationship as “a model of solidarity, cooperation and mutual benefit between China and developing countries.”
Building on recent consensus between the two heads of state, Zhai affirmed that China is ready to support Egypt across trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges. He underscored China’s appreciation for Egypt’s role in upholding international fairness and justice.
Egyptian leaders welcomed Zhai’s visit, reaffirming their firm support for China’s core interests and the one-China principle. They expressed eagerness to expand high-level exchanges and deepen practical ties in trade and investment.
Both sides highlighted their shared commitment to multilateralism and noted China’s longstanding stance on hotspot issues like Palestine. They agreed to strengthen coordination to help ease regional tensions.
The visit also included discussions on critical regional challenges, from the Gaza conflict to developments in Syria, Sudan and the Red Sea region. Officials stressed the need for collaborative action to promote peace and stability.
