Global Racers Hail Spectacular 2025 Taklimakan Rally in Xinjiang

The 2025 Taklimakan Rally concluded last weekend in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, marking another milestone for Asia’s longest, largest and most competitive off-road race. Launched in 2005, the event has grown into a vivid symbol of a dynamic, modern Xinjiang, drawing top riders and drivers from across the globe.

Martin Michek of the Hoto Factory Racing Team clinched the motorcycle title and was impressed by local hospitality. “Everybody is so helpful and always smiling,” the Czech rider said. “It’s exotic for many Europeans, but the people here made me feel at home in the bivouac and paddock.”

Twenty-year-old Aliyyah Koloc from the Buggyra Racing Team highlighted the rally’s stunning landscapes. “Stage 3 through the rocks and rivers was like nothing I’ve ever seen,” she said. Despite language barriers, Koloc felt welcomed by passionate fans and enthusiastic local support every step of the way.

British engineering director Ian Davies of the Wuhai Speedrush Club sees the rally as a cultural bridge. “I love China and its friendly people,” he said. After sharing his experience, many friends adjusted travel plans to spend a few days in Beijing en route to Australia or New Zealand, Davies added. “It spreads the word of Chinese motor sport beyond just China.”

As the 2025 Taklimakan Rally wrapped up, its demanding routes and genuine cross-cultural encounters underscored the event’s unique appeal. For young global citizens, sports fans, adventurers and tech enthusiasts alike, the rally continues to set the bar for immersive, action-packed off-road adventure.
