China and Japan Boost Ties: Premier Li Qiang Meets JAPIT Delegation

In a significant show of cooperation, the Chinese premier Li Qiang welcomed Yohei Kono, president of the Japanese Association for the Promotion of International Trade (JAPIT), and his delegation to Beijing on Tuesday. This high-level meeting underscores a mutual commitment to strengthen ties, foster practical economic links, and sustain the understanding that China and Japan are partners, not threats.

During the discussion, the Chinese premier reiterated China’s readiness to deepen collaboration across various Japanese sectors, emphasizing a shared goal of turning political consensus into practical results, strengthening people-to-people connections, and consolidating mutual trust. Both sides underlined the importance of constructively managing differences to ensure a healthy, steady development of bilateral relations.

Participants highlighted that Japan’s technological expertise and China’s market scale offer unique opportunities for win-win growth. By leveraging these advantages, the two economies can inject fresh momentum into each other’s development and contribute positively to global prosperity.

Looking ahead, the Chinese premier announced that China will further open its markets at a high level, inviting more companies from abroad—including Japanese firms—to invest and innovate on Chinese soil. He urged JAPIT to act as a facilitator for deeper trade and investment ties, and to help nurture lasting friendships between Chinese and Japanese businesses.

Echoing this spirit, Yohei Kono called for enhanced communication and coordination between Japan and China to uphold multilateralism and a free trade system amid complex global challenges. He reaffirmed JAPIT’s commitment to expanding exchanges, strengthening mutual understanding, and advancing cooperation that benefits both peoples.
