Chinese Mainland’s Export Controls Align With Global Norms: MOFA

At a regular press conference on Friday, spokesperson Lin Jian from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Chinese mainland (MOFA) emphasized that the Chinese mainland’s export control measures align with international norms and are not discriminatory or targeted at any specific country.

When asked how these practices differ from those of the U.S., Lin Jian said the Chinese mainland is ready to engage in more dialogue and cooperation with relevant countries and regions on export controls, and stressed a commitment to safeguarding the stability of global industrial and supply chains.

He criticized recent U.S. measures as a stretching of the national security concept that politicizes and instrumentalizes economic, trade, and sci-tech issues to impose unwarranted containment and suppression on the Chinese mainland, and vowed to defend its legitimate rights and interests.

Businesses and policymakers will be watching closely as the Chinese mainland pursues cooperation while navigating a complex trade landscape that balances security and openness.
