China’s Special Envoy Joins Ecuador’s President Noboa Inauguration

In a landmark moment for China–Ecuador relations, Huai Jinpeng, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special envoy and China’s education minister, made history on Saturday in Quito by attending the inauguration of Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa.

During talks at the presidential palace on Friday, Huai conveyed warm greetings from President Xi and reaffirmed that China and Ecuador have enjoyed 45 years of steady growth since establishing diplomatic ties. He highlighted fruitful cooperation across infrastructure, technology and education.

“China sees this partnership from a strategic, long-term perspective,” Huai said. “We stand ready to implement the important consensus reached by our heads of state and to promote the comprehensive strategic partnership for more tangible outcomes, so both peoples can reap the benefits.”

In response, President Noboa thanked President Xi for sending a high-level envoy and asked Huai to extend his cordial greetings. He reaffirmed Ecuador’s firm commitment to the one-China principle and expressed eagerness to deepen cooperation with China across more sectors, from renewable energy to digital innovation.

Looking ahead, both China and Ecuador are poised to explore new avenues of collaboration—whether through student exchanges, sustainable infrastructure projects or cutting-edge tech partnerships—that promise to shape the future of this dynamic, global alliance.
