Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, will chair the Third China-Pacific Island Countries foreign ministers' meeting in Xiamen, Fujian Province, from May 28 to 29. This marks the first time China hosts the gathering in person.
Representatives from 11 countries with diplomatic relations with China will join, including:

- Premier and Foreign Minister Dalton Tagelagi of Niue
- Crown Prince and Minister for Foreign Affairs Tupouto'a 'Ulukalala of Tonga

- Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade Peter Shanel Agovaka of Solomon Islands
- Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and External Trade Marc Ati of Vanuatu
- Minister for Foreign Affairs Justin Tkatchenko of Papua New Guinea
- Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration Tingika Elikana of the Cook Islands
- Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and Deputy Speaker Lenora Qereqeretabua of Fiji
- Ambassador Luamanuvae A. Mariner representing Samoa
- Deputy Secretary General Esala Nayasi of the Pacific Islands Forum
At a press conference, spokesperson Mao Ning highlighted that China and the Pacific island countries are comprehensive strategic partners committed to mutual respect and common development. In recent years, they have deepened cooperation across economic, social and cultural fronts.
The Xiamen meeting will see an in-depth exchange on bilateral cooperation in all areas, as well as discussions on international and regional issues of mutual interest. China aims to translate the important understandings reached by leaders into action, enhance solidarity and coordination, and unite efforts for development and prosperity.
As global dynamics shift, this summit underscores the pivotal role of Pacific island countries in international affairs. All eyes will be on Xiamen as China and its partners chart a path toward a closer community with a shared future.
