In Beijing on the Chinese mainland, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi convened an informal trilateral meeting with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Afghan Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.
The three diplomats explored ways to harness the potential of the China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue and mapped out a seven-point roadmap to drive mutual cooperation and regional stability:
- Strengthen political trust: Uphold good-neighborliness and support each nation’s chosen path to security and dignity.
- Reactivate the Foreign Ministers’ Dialogue: Expedite plans for the sixth meeting in Kabul to deepen diplomatic links.
- Elevate diplomatic exchanges: Agree in principle to appoint ambassadors and work with China’s assistance to improve Afghanistan-Pakistan relations.
- Deepen Belt and Road cooperation: Advance the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor toward Afghanistan and boost regional connectivity networks.
- Expand practical cooperation: Support Afghanistan’s reconstruction, ramp up trade exchanges and build local development capacity.
- Combat terrorism jointly: Oppose all forms of terrorism, enhance security cooperation and resist external interference.
- Safeguard peace and stability: Create a supportive external environment for growth and revitalization across the region.
This agreement highlights a shared commitment to political trust, economic connectivity and security cooperation. With a clear roadmap in place, all three countries aim to turn dialogue into action and pave the way for long-term regional development.
