By the end of the year, the Chinese mainland counted 7,046 museumsup 213 from 2023meaning there’s now roughly one museum for every 200,000 people. More than 90 percent of these institutions offer free admission, making culture more accessible than ever.
Throughout the year, museums hosted over 43,000 exhibitions and 511,000 educational activities, ranging from art showcases and historical retrospectives to interactive workshops. These events attracted local visitors, international tourists and the curious minds of students and digital nomads.
