China and France Unite to Safeguard Open Global Trade

At the 10th China-France High Level Economic and Financial Dialogue on Thursday, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng affirmed China's commitment to working with France to strengthen multilateral coordination and protect an open, cooperative international trade environment. Co-chaired with Eric Lombard, French minister of economy, finance and industrial and digital sovereignty, the dialogue highlighted both nations' shared vision for global economic stability.

Marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, Vice Premier He recalled a series of presidential-level agreements reached last year aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation. "China stands ready to implement these consensuses, enrich our economic and financial ties, and tap the potential for mutually beneficial collaboration," he stated.

Both sides also committed to tackling global challenges like climate change, highlighting how sustainability and economic cooperation go hand in hand.

Lombard echoed this sentiment, emphasizing France's dedication to multilateralism and trade freedom. He also underlined France's plan to bring high-quality products to Chinese consumers and foster a welcoming business climate for Chinese enterprises in France.

The dialogue covered key sectors, culminating in bilateral cooperation agreements on poultry meat, breeding poultry and breeding eggs. A symposium featuring entrepreneurs from both countries further explored opportunities for innovation and investment.

During his visit, Vice Premier He visited French family farms and met industry leaders from cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and aviation. These exchanges set the stage for fresh initiatives that promise to inject new vitality into the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership and fuel broader China-Europe cooperation.
