China's National Meteorological Center (NMC) has issued yellow alerts for rainstorms and severe convective weather as parts of the Chinese mainland brace for the most intense phase of a prolonged downpour and stormy conditions.
From 2 p.m. Thursday to 2 p.m. Friday, heavy rains will drench both southern and northern regions:
- East China's Jiangxi, central China's Hunan and south China's Guangxi are set for torrential downpours, accompanied by thunderstorms, gales and hail.
- Strong winds will gust across Anhui, Jiangsu, Hunan, Guangxi and south China's Guangdong.
- Tornadoes cannot be ruled out in some areas of Jiangxi.
The NMC advises residents and travelers to:
- Regularly check weather forecasts and emergency alerts.
- Prioritize road safety—flash floods and slick surfaces are likely.
- Stay vigilant against secondary hazards like landslides and local flooding.
China’s four-tier warning system ranks red as the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue. A yellow alert means conditions could escalate rapidly, so preparedness is key.
Whether you’re commuting in Anhui, exploring Hunan’s landscapes or planning a weekend getaway in Guangxi, keep your weather app updated and stay safe under the stormy skies.
