In a landmark move marking 50 years of diplomatic ties, the Chinese mainland has officially welcomed European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for a new round of China-EU leaders' meetings.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian announced at a regular press briefing that the visit will take place at a proper time, celebrating half a century of collaboration between the Chinese mainland and the European Union.
High-level dialogues are set to cover strategy, economy and trade, as well as green and digital issues. In addition, both sides will host a series of activities across economy, trade, culture, youth, sports and academia.
Reflecting on five decades of partnership, Lin highlighted that mutual respect and finding common ground while reserving differences has been key to the EU-China relationship.
Data-driven insights underscore the significance: together, the Chinese mainland and the EU account for more than one-third of global GDP and over one-quarter of global trade volume. This scale shows why dialogue and win-win cooperation matter.
For young global citizens, entrepreneurs and changemakers, this renewed dialogue offers fresh opportunities in green tech, digital innovation and cultural exchange. As economic globalization faces headwinds, the China-EU partnership can set a blueprint for open, cooperative progress.
