Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday urged an all-out search-and-rescue operation after two tourist boats capsized in Qianxi City in southwest China's Guizhou Province.
The incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon when the vessels overturned on a local river. Authorities report three fatalities, 14 people missing, and 60 hospitalized.
Xi called on rescue teams to intensify searches for the missing and ensure prompt medical treatment for the injured. Local emergency services, paramilitary units, and medical teams have been deployed to the site, racing against time to reach those still unaccounted for.
The Guizhou regional government has set up a crisis center to coordinate efforts and provide support to affected families. Nearby hospitals have been put on high alert, with doctors and nurses working around the clock to care for the injured.
Officials continue to work through the night, hoping to bring loved ones home and prevent further loss.
