China Lodges Protest Over Japanese Aircraft in Diaoyu Dao Airspace

China lodged a formal protest with Japan on Saturday after a Japanese civilian aircraft entered the airspace over the Diaoyu Dao, a group of islands that China regards as its inherent territory.

Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wu Jianghao met with Japan's Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Takehiro Funakoshi to deliver a solemn representation, according to a release from the Chinese Embassy in Japan.

"Allowing a civilian aircraft to illegally enter the airspace of the Diaoyu Dao constitutes a severe violation of China's sovereignty," Wu said. He added that China had taken necessary control measures in accordance with the law to warn and expel the aircraft.

China expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition, urging the Japanese side to recognize the seriousness of the incident and take practical steps to prevent a recurrence. The statement emphasized that any further provocative actions by Japan would be met with resolute countermeasures to safeguard national sovereignty and maritime rights.

China's solemn representation underscores its determination to protect its airspace and territory.
