China Says No Tariff Talks with U.S.; Open to Fair Negotiations

At a regular press conference on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun delivered a clear response to swirling reports: China and the United States have not engaged in any discussions or negotiations on tariff-related issues.

"As far as I understand it, China and the United States have not conducted consultations or negotiations on the tariff issue, let alone reached an agreement," Guo said, underscoring that the current tariff war was initiated by the U.S.

He emphasized that China's stance has been consistent and transparent – open to negotiation, but prepared to press on if needed.

"Dialogue and negotiation must be equal, respectful and mutually beneficial," Guo added, calling for a balanced approach both sides can embrace.

For entrepreneurs, investors and global trade watchers, this statement highlights the fragile state of international commerce. As tensions simmer, the call for fairness and respect could shape the next chapter of U.S.-China relations and set a tone for future talks.
