Xuelong Returns: China’s 41st Antarctic Expedition Concludes

China's formidable icebreaker Xuelong has returned to port after a groundbreaking 41st Antarctic expedition. Launched on November 1, 2024, the mission deployed 516 scientists across three vessels, marking a major milestone in polar research and climate studies.

The expedition achieved significant objectives, including the construction of the Qinling research station—a new hub for vital climate change research. The cargo ship Yong Sheng successfully delivered essential materials before returning in January 2025.

While Xuelong has completed its journey, Xuelong 2 remains active in the Ross Sea until June for joint international research. This ambitious mission highlights a blend of technological prowess and global scientific collaboration, offering fresh insights into environmental sustainability.
