In a remarkable display of international solidarity, the China International Search and Rescue Team is delivering critical on-site medical care in the quake-affected urban areas of Myanmar's Mandalay region.
Equipped with self-developed mobile diagnostic tools—including handheld ultrasound devices, portable X-ray machines, and bedside ECG monitors—the team conducted free examinations for over 250 local residents at a relief camp near the University of Medicine in Mandalay. Essential medications such as anti-infectives, analgesics, and antihypertensives were distributed on site based on real-time diagnoses.
In the vicinity of the Mandalay Palace, the medical personnel tailored solutions for prevalent local ailments. With a focus on respiratory, digestive, and immune system disorders intensified by high temperatures, they offered medication guidance and health education on respiratory care and chronic disease management to boost community resilience.
Comprised of more than 10 experts spanning 14 specialties including internal medicine, surgery, and pediatrics, the team has also aided search-and-rescue operations, conducted structural assessments, and disinfected over 120,000 square meters of operational zones. Collaborative efforts with the China Search and Rescue Team and the team from China's Hong Kong and Shenzhen Public Welfare Rescue Team have facilitated over 500 medical consultations, ensuring round-the-clock support for those in need.
Moving forward, the China International Search and Rescue Team will continue its outreach across multiple relief camps, prioritizing the treatment of acute and chronic conditions such as respiratory, hepatobiliary, cardiovascular, and endocrine disorders, while also donating urgently needed medical supplies to local facilities.
This ongoing effort highlights the impactful blend of innovative technology and international cooperation, proving that through shared commitment and expertise, communities can overcome even the most daunting challenges.
