In central Myanmar, rescue teams from China are racing against time after a devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck on Friday. Bringing together international expertise and cutting-edge technology, teams from China’s Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the China International Search and Rescue Team (CISAR) have deployed advanced equipment to navigate hazardous debris and reach survivors.

At the severely damaged Sky Villa apartment in Mandalay City, the Hong Kong rescue team led by commander Jiu Yu-gok employed drones to soar above shifting rubble and life detectors to scan through the wreckage. "Our 51-member team brought diverse tools, from concrete breakers to infrared detectors, to maximize our efforts," said Jiu, emphasizing the comprehensive rescue strategy.

The CISAR team complemented these efforts with innovative snake-eye life detectors that offer real-time video and audio cues, a technology that recently helped pull three survivors from the collapsed building. Captain Han Zhenze explained that an integrated earthquake response vehicle—equipped with power supply, lighting, leak detection, and medical aid functions—drastically reduced equipment changeover time, enabling deeper penetration into disaster zones.
