China Criticizes U.S. and Japan Over Rising Tensions

China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun has voiced strong criticisms against the U.S. and Japan for inciting ideological division and confrontation in the region. According to Guo, military and security cooperation between the U.S. and Japan should never target a third country or compromise regional peace and development.

After U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth described Japan as a "warrior country" indispensable for tackling Chinese aggression, Guo rebuked the remarks. He argued that labeling China a threat serves as a pretext for fueling antagonism and even using some nations as pawns in the pursuit of U.S. supremacy.

Reflecting on history, Guo noted that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese Peopleโ€™s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-fascist War, urging Japan to learn from its past. He emphasized that Japan bears serious historical responsibility, having once committed aggression and exercised colonial rule over Taiwan.

Guo also stressed that the Taiwan question is purely an internal matter for China. He called on elements in the U.S. to abandon any notion of using Taiwan to contain China, urging adherence to the one-China principle and the commitments outlined in past agreements.

The remarks add a new dimension to the ongoing discussion on regional security and historical accountability, inviting global citizens and policy influencers to reexamine the balance of power and the importance of respectful international collaboration.
