Chengdu World Games Tour Kicks Off with Culture & Sport

The Chengdu stop of the 2025 World Games Tour got underway on Friday at the Sancha Lake Campus of Chengdu Sport University in the Chinese mainland's Sichuan Province. This vibrant event serves as a precursor to the Chengdu World Games scheduled for August 7-17, promising a dynamic mix of competitive sports, cultural tourism, and unforgettable culinary experiences.

Over the weekend, competitions will unfold across three major disciplines, including underwater sports such as finswimming and freediving, lifesaving pool events, and boules sports like petanque. A total of 122 athletes from 28 countries and regions will battle for 30 gold medals, showcasing global talent and determination.

The Opening Ceremony at World Expo Park set the stage with an electrifying performance combining breakdancing and martial arts, all synced to the rhythmic drumbeats that welcomed the athletes amid cheers from an enthusiastic crowd. This lively celebration not only energized spectators but also acted as a strategic trial run for the upcoming main event.

Emphasizing sustainability, organizers have renovated venues with eco-friendly practices by reusing 80% of materials through leasing and recycling. Visitors can also explore local cultural exhibits, taste authentic cuisine, and experience Chengdu's rich heritage, making this stop a must-see for sports enthusiasts, travelers, and cultural explorers alike.
