Wang Yi Champions Stronger China-Japan Ties

In a spirited display of international cooperation amid global uncertainties, Wang Yi, a leading member of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission, met with representatives from seven Japan-China friendship groups. The gathering underscored the importance of nurturing a robust bilateral relationship as both nations navigate an ever-evolving global landscape.

Wang Yi emphasized that, despite growing international instability, China remains committed to shouldering its responsibilities as a major power by working together with other nations to safeguard peace and security in Asia. He highlighted the critical role of promoting human development and progress through meaningful dialogue and collaboration.

During the meeting, Wang Yi outlined three key strategic areas to deepen bilateral ties: maintaining a solid political foundation, enhancing dialogue and exchanges across various sectors, and cultivating successors to ensure that the legacy of friendship endures. He also stressed the necessity of adhering strictly to the China-Japan Joint Statement, with careful attention given to handling historical issues and the Taiwan question, while resisting any distortions or falsifications.

Representatives from the friendship groups echoed these views, pledging to advance local and youth-level exchanges that fortify the bond between China and Japan. Their commitment reflects a shared vision of building a sustainable, peaceful future through enduring people-to-people ties.
