The 2024 induction ceremony for the China Basketball Hall of Fame celebrated basketball excellence at Tsinghua University in Beijing on Sunday. Renowned former Hall of Famers and emerging talents gathered to honor individuals who have shaped the sport’s legacy in China.
Outstanding male athletes Li Hanting and Gong Xiaobin, along with outstanding female athletes Yang Jie and Miao Lijie, were recognized for their remarkable contributions. Coach Ma Qingsheng and referee Guo Yupei also received special accolades, while pioneers Li Zhenzhong, Wu Chengzhang, and Huang Lie were honored for breaking new ground in Chinese basketball.
In a memorable moment, Miao Lijie reminisced on career highlights that defined her journey. Meanwhile, Gong Xiaobin showcased a scar from a 1998 game against South Korea and urged young players, saying, "Only by stepping onto the global stage can you truly represent China."
This third annual induction ceremony has now brought the total to 42 individuals and three collectives, further cementing the Hall of Fame's role in preserving and inspiring the legacy of Chinese basketball for future global stars.
