China Champions UN’s Role at Beijing Symposium

Beijing — In a dynamic address, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s commitment to true multilateralism and to the central role of the United Nations. Speaking at the international symposium "Strengthen the Role of the United Nations and Promote Multilateralism," hosted by the Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing, Wang Yi laid out a vision for a global governance system based on extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefit.

Reflecting on the success of last year's UN Summit of the Future—which captured the international community’s desire for enhanced multilateral cooperation—Wang Yi emphasized the significance of this year as it marks the 80th anniversary of both the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War and the founding of the United Nations. He urged all nations to work in solidarity to uphold fairness, defend justice, and secure peace and stability for a prosperous future.

More than 100 engaged participants from nearly 50 countries and regions, including representatives from international organizations, UN officials, experts, and scholars, gathered at the symposium. Their collective presence underscores a shared commitment across cultures—resonating strongly with digitally savvy global citizens, business and tech enthusiasts, thought leaders, and travelers who champion sustainable progress and innovative global solutions.

Wang Yi’s call to unite and inject positive energy into building a more just and equitable global governance system serves as a timely reminder that, even in a rapidly changing world, collaborative efforts remain essential to achieving meaningful, long-term impact.
