Rising Star Yang Liuyue Clinches Double Gold at Weightlifting Event

Young talent Yang Liuyue of Fujian Province in the southeast Chinese mainland stole the show in Fuzhou on Saturday. At just 18, she delivered a memorable performance at the Chinese Women's Weightlifting National Championships, winning both the snatch and overall gold medals in the 64-kg division.

The competition turned into a thrilling duel as Yang squared off with 20-year-old Li Shuang from Chongqing Municipality. Li opened the snatch with 104kg, but Yang edged her by lifting 105kg initially and later solidified her lead with an impressive 110kg—a lift that matched the domestic junior record. Although both athletes were unable to clear 112kg on their final attempts, Yang’s consistent performance earned her a total of 240kg, narrowly beating Li’s 237kg.

The clean and jerk segment saw both competitors starting strongly with an initial 110kg lift, securing their spots at the upcoming 15th National Games of China in November. While Zhejiang’s Liu Meishi clinched the clean and jerk title with a 131kg lift, Yang’s overall excellence shone through.

This exciting showdown highlights the emergence of new stars within the Chinese mainland’s sports arena and serves as an inspiration for young global citizens, sports enthusiasts, and aspiring athletes everywhere. Yang Liuyue’s achievement is a testament to determination, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
