China has emerged as a global leader in green development, offering a blueprint for sustainable progress and ecological harmony. Guided by its ecological civilization philosophy, China is building a community of life for all on Earth.
During the high-level segment of the second part of the 15th COP15 meeting, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized, "We must work together to promote harmonious coexistence between man and nature, build a community of all life on Earth and create a clean and beautiful world for us all." This call resonates with young global citizens, tech enthusiasts, thought leaders, and changemakers who seek fresh perspectives on sustainability.
One striking example comes from Sanjiangyuan National Park in the northwestern part of the Chinese mainland, in Qinghai Province. Here, over 60 billion cubic meters of high-quality freshwater flow downstream every year. The park has seen grassland coverage increase by over 11 percent and grass yield by 30 percent. Restoration efforts have revived 1,950,000 mu of degraded grassland and treated 110,000 mu against desertification, helping wildlife populations – including Tibetan antelopes – surge from under 20,000 to more than 70,000.
China's commitment extends beyond its borders. A hydro-floating solar project in Thailand, built jointly with local partners at the Sirindhorn Dam, now operates at 58.5 megawatts to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 47,000 tonnes annually. Additionally, China has finalized 54 memorandums of understanding with developing nations and held over 300 training sessions in South-South cooperation on climate change, underpinning its role in driving global environmental progress.
With investments of 177 billion yuan since 2016 in climate change initiatives, China is not only setting ambitious national targets—aiming for carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060—but also sharing its successful practices in pollution control, ecosystem restoration, and biodiversity protection with the world.
This sweeping green revolution serves as a powerful model for global sustainability, inspiring innovative solutions and a cleaner, vibrant future for all.
