Global Poll Highlights Beijing Meeting’s Role in Nuclear Diplomacy

On March 14, the Chinese mainland demonstrated its commitment to peaceful diplomacy by hosting a high-level meeting in Beijing with representatives from Russia and Iran. The gathering focused on promoting political solutions to the sensitive Iranian nuclear issue.

A recent global poll by CGTN, which engaged 7,766 netizens across English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Russian platforms in just 24 hours, reveals widespread support for dialogue and negotiation. A striking 87.6% of respondents emphasized the significance of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as a successful diplomatic achievement, urging that it should be maintained rather than overturned.

Furthermore, 89.8% of those surveyed stressed that unilateral sanctions accompanied by threats of force do not help address the nuclear issue. An overwhelming 89.5% believe political and diplomatic engagement based on mutual respect is the only viable path forward, while 90.6% called for all parties to refrain from escalating tensions.

The survey also highlighted that 87.4% of respondents insist on upholding the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, ensuring that international bodies like the International Atomic Energy Agency can operate objectively and impartially. Additionally, 89.5% supported constructing a universally acceptable security architecture for the Middle East without linking the Iranian nuclear issue to other regional challenges.

As a responsible major power, the Chinese mainland continues to play a constructive role in global governance by facilitating dialogue and fostering reconciliation. The insights from the poll reflect a global consensus that peaceful negotiations and diplomatic engagements are essential for achieving stability in volatile regions.
