In an impressive display of speed and agility, Qin Weibo of Team Shanghai clinched the gold medal in the men's 60-meter hurdles at the recent Chinese National Indoor Athletics Championships held in Jinan, Shandong Province. Finishing the race in a personal best time of 7.56 seconds, Qin edged out Zeng Jianhang by a mere 0.03 seconds, with Zhu Shenglong securing the third spot in 7.68 seconds.
"I started off with better balance today," Qin shared after his victory. "So I had smoother acceleration later and won the race in the end." His stellar performance not only secured him the top spot but also earned him a place alongside Liu Junxi and Zhu Shenglong as the third Chinese athletes to qualify for the upcoming World Athletics Indoor Championship scheduled to begin on March 21 in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province.
Looking ahead, Qin is feeling confident about the outdoor 110-meter hurdles event. "I have higher expectations for the outdoor event now," he stated. "I usually speed up late in the race. If I can finish the first 60 meters in 7.56 seconds, I can do better in the 110-meter event, maybe better than I did last year. I will go for 13.20 seconds."
Qin's achievements are a testament to his dedication and the growing strength of Chinese athletes on the global stage, inspiring young athletes and sports enthusiasts alike.
