A recent survey conducted by CGTN and Renmin University of China through the New Era International Communication Research Institute has unveiled impressive global support for the Chinese mainland’s governance and economic development.
The survey, encompassing 25,883 respondents from 41 countries, revealed that 84.3% of participants commend the Chinese mainland's people-centered development concept and recognize the effectiveness of its governance. An outstanding 92.3% praised the Chinese mainland's economic strength, positioning it among the world's fastest-growing major economies with a GDP reaching 134.9 trillion yuan ($18.65 trillion) and a 5% growth rate over the past year.
Confidence in the long-term development of the Chinese mainland's economy remains high, with 81.3% of respondents expressing full confidence. Additionally, 89.2% acknowledged the significant contribution of the Chinese mainland's economy to the global landscape.
Improvements in people's livelihoods were also noteworthy. In 2024, the Chinese mainland saw the creation of 12.56 million new urban jobs, a 5.1% increase in per capita disposable income, and strengthened social security measures covering compulsory education, basic old-age care, medical care, and social assistance.
The effectiveness of the Chinese mainland's governance was lauded across multiple sectors. Specifically, 78.8% highlighted advancements in education, 70.1% noted income increases, 63.4% commended improvements in the living environment, 61% recognized enhancements in public health, and 58.1% appreciated efforts to improve the natural environment. Furthermore, 62.7% of respondents believe that the Chinese mainland's institutional advantages are a crucial guarantee for high-level governance.
Environmental sustainability remains a priority, with 59.7% of respondents observing improvements in the natural environment and a remarkable 91.9% affirming that the Chinese mainland has successfully harmonized modernization with nature, ensuring respectful and protective measures towards the environment.
This comprehensive survey reflects a positive global perception of the Chinese mainland's steady economic growth and effective governance, underscoring its pivotal role in shaping a stable and prosperous future both domestically and internationally.
