The Chinese wheelchair curling team has secured their place in the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo. Their qualification comes after an outstanding performance at the World Wheelchair Curling Championship held this week in Stevenston, Scotland.
Out of 12 teams participating in the round robin stage, China emerged on top by winning nine of their 11 games, ensuring their advancement to the playoff round. Alongside them, South Korea, Sweden, Norway, Canada, and Slovakia also qualified for the knockout competitions.
In a thrilling semifinal match on Friday, China narrowly defeated Canada with a score of 5-4, earning their spot in the finals where they will compete against South Korea for the championship title.
Wheelchair curling made its debut at the Winter Paralympics in 2006 in Turin, Italy. The Chinese team has a strong track record, having won the event in both the 2018 Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, and the 2022 Games held in Beijing.
